Buehler's HistoryBuehler's Idlewild has been a Farm and Guest House since it was built in 1885. The hospitality of clean rooms and great home cooked meals continues today as it began over 130 years ago. Many of our guests have returned for generations with their families. Mark and Mary Crouthamel have operated the inn for the last twenty three years & this year we are handing over the bell to Matt & Sophie Stango - farm guests for many years! Located in the Pocono Mountains of PA, it is an easy drive from Philadelphia and New York City.
The main Farm House was built in 1885 and has a living room with fireplace, a small library, a knotty pine dining room, and 8 guest bedrooms. The Spring House was built in the 1968 and has 5 guest bedrooms. The rooms are simple - no TV, radio, alarm clock. We ring a rising bell in the morning and bells at meal times - the same as it's been done for years. The bathrooms are shared. We have an old barn, tennis court, basketball hoop, pickle ball, an in ground swimming pool, swingset, an eleven acre pond/lake for fishing, canoeing, rowing, and paddle boating. By the lake we have a big campfire pit for guests to build fires, toast s'mores, and relax. There is a game room for rainy days and cool nights, which has a fireplace, ping pong, table shuffle board, card tables, and a fully furnished kitchen. We are open from May through mid October. Spring/Fall Weekends are Friday afternoon to Sunday mid morning. Our summer schedule begins during the last week of June and goes until Labor Day Weekend, where we're open all week - Sunday 6pm cookout - Saturday 8:30am breakfast. |

...years ago he [Matt] brought Sophie for the first time and they quickly fell in love with the farm, the people, and the long legacy of Buehler's Idlewild. The other families quickly got to know The Stangos; Sophie would show up with a trunk full of books to share and Matt would bake bread and serve it poolside...
